Shopping for guys is hard. They tend to be minimalists that want practical items only. I mean, gift a girl a handbag, lipstick of cozy robe and you’re golden. None are real necessities, right? Guys? There is not handbag or lipstick equivalent for a guy! And while practical, necessities are awesome gifts, you don’t want to only gift him work pants under the tree.
My conversations with S go as follows:Me: Do you need new sneakers?
S: No.
Me: Uh – those are green from mowing the lawn and have a hole in the sole. Do you need new sneakers?
S: Nah – they’re alright.
He never wants anything even when he needs it. Sound like anyone you know?
Well I’m here to help! I’ve rounded up the best pics for the guys in your life – husband, boyfriend, brother-Â and each is great quality, practical and useful.
S owns most of these items because … I mean we’ve had like 40+ birthdays, Christmas’ and anniversaries together over our 11 years lol. I break down sizing and all the deetz below!

This is S’ all time favorite work shoe brand. When he was working at he Big 4, he’d walk through the city everyday for work. He’d run holes through the soles of his shoes ever two months. That’s when I was over the shoe store visits and bought him this pair for Christmas!
If your guy is walking through the city and putting massive wear on his dress shoes or just needs a sleek pair of shoes for the office, this is the pair to gift. S owns them in the cognac and black and just switches up his belt to the matching color for each! The cap toe detailing adds a really nice touch to an otherwise plan shoe.
They last year over year and he raves about them! No other dress shoe has been on his foot in four years.
CHUKKA BOOTS:S’ roommate in college was the first to wear these out of his friends and now S has a couple pairs. He likes them because they are super practical and versatile.
He has them in suede and leather ‘Beeswax’. They are super versatile shoes because they can be worn to the office with khaki pants and a button up or on the weekend with denim and a sweater.
They run large, so go down half a size.
LL BEAN BOOTS:
These are a staple in New England! LL Bean is headquartered in Maine, so duh. The great thing too is that when the bottoms wear off, they fix ’em back up and resole for free! Plus you get free shipping and returns on all orders.
They will easily get backordered [like from soon til March], so if they aren’t yet and you want to grab someone them as a gift – don’t wait!
S and I both own these as our winter boots. We both like the 6″ height because they provide protection from snow getting in, but don’t take forever to get on either, but they come in taller or shorter heights for your liking.Â
For sizing, they run large for both men and women. Go one whole size down.
NFL GEAR:S parents always stock us up with sports gear each Christmas, but I like to throw a few pieces Patriots pieces in S’ stockings as well.
This button up is so cute and this pom pom hat is a great, practical piece for a guy that likes a pop of personality [which isn’t my husband, but it was too cute not to add!].
He likes wearing these socks at work for festive game day celebrations, haha! If your guy is in a very formal work place, look at this tie too!Â
I could go on an on. The NFL pieces HERE are so cute.
PATAGONIA SWEATERS:
S wears this half zip in grey and this full zip in black ALL THE TIME. He lives in them and they make such a nice gift!
He’s a minimalist so for him to own two of something, it means it’s that good! They run true to size and come in a lot of colors.
There is also a vest in the same style that your friend Hayden layers over his dress shirts at work. It looks so cute! It also runs true to size.
If your guy prefers fleece, there is also a super cozy fleece version which would be a lighter layer option!
This hoodie is also a cute option for a more casual piece. S has a sweatshirt in a similar material and lives in it so I think I’ll grab him this!
WORK OUT TOPS:I stock S up on his favorite work out tees this time of year as well.
For under $20, these are so great! They wick way THE sweat which he needs while running outside in the summer, hitting the gym or riding the Peloton.
If your guy typically wears slim fit like S, go down one size. If he doesn’t get his normal size. They come in 5+ colors HERE ANDÂ HERE.
OFFICE LAYERING SWEATERS:S owns this zip sweater in shades navy and heather mink and wears them over his button ups in the colder months. Not only does it make him warmer, but it’s so stinkin’ cute! Grab your guys normal size.
Oh and this retailer is always having sales, so while it’s $54 it will easily be marked down 40% during Cyber Week.
My guy bestie told me about this cashmere mix sweater. I felt it in-store and it’s so very soft because of the cashmere. You usually can’t get this luxury material for under $100, but since it’s a cotton mix, it’s a tad cheaper ringing in under $60. It’s another option to layer over buttons up. It runs true to size and comes in 8+ color options.
With layering, make sure you buy a V neck sweater because a scoop neck will make the button up collar look crumpled and be uncomfortable.
MIZZEN AND MAIN:Â
This brand is all over the blog and have something fun coming up with them!
They are S’ all time favorite dress shirts because they are made from a super comfortable, breathable athletic material. If your guy works in an office – GET HIM THESE! HE WILLL LOVE THEM!
Make sure to check the measurements as we definitely think they changes from last year since S went down a size. Oh and they have slim [what S needs] and tall styles for your guy!
RECORD PLAYER:A few years ago, I gifted S a Crosley record player for his birthday socked with a bunch of records by artists his dad plays. Since his parents don’t live close by, I wanted to make sure he had touches of growing up in our own home and within our new traditions. Playing Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra on a record player is that much better!
This is a similar version to ours by the same brand, but it’s actually a tad smaller and cheaper ringing in at under $75.
LL BEAN BUFFLE BAG:With LL Bean being headquartered near my hometown, we always were gifted pieces from there growing up and we still hav them to this day. The quality is just that good.
My parents got S this duffle in large and this shower caddy in medium that he uses for travel while we were in high school and they are still in mint condition. You can monogram them too. His has a soccer ball since he was an All State soccer goalie and his initials!
He has them in dark blue, but there are a bunch of colors.
SLIPPERS:I included two slippers because the guys in my life like two different kinds.
My dad is a slide on slipper guy, so I got him this LL Bean pair for Christmas last year. Plus LL Bean has extended sizes so if your dad wears a size 14 shoe like mine [making it almost impossible to buy him shoes lol], check out LL Bean.
S prefers a shoe-ish type slipper so this Ugg pair id up his alley.

COLOGNE:I chatted last year that S is so picky with scents! He went from blasting A Fitch cologne in high school when we met [any high school girl’s dream ha], to wearing nothing to discovering this and now wearing it for three+ years. It’s the best smelling cologne EVER. JOGGERS:
The pictures make joggers look really tight, but they don’t look that way when on or else S would never wear them.
S wear this pair all the time and really likes them. He wears them literally all weekend. They run true to size and also have reflectors if your guy is also a runner!
This pair would be great for pjs or lounging which this pair would be appropriate to wear out of the house for errands.
