Our Master Bedroom Design

After the summer off from interiors and focusing on the outside of our home [garden, lawn, flower beds, etc], I’m so excited to get back to the inside of our home! Next project? Our master bedroom! I wanted to share the mock up I created for the master bedroom design.

While oftentimes we prioritize living space since that’s where a lot of memories are made and where we host, I think the bedroom design is even more important.

The bedroom is the last place you see when putting your head down at night and the first place you experience when lifting your head in the morning. You want it to be a place that makes you happy and relaxed!

I always strive to have our bedroom tidy and cozy in order to create a relaxing environment. S and I both work 60+ hour work weeks so having a place to unwind that helps ease stress in other areas of life is important!

For our master bedroom, I’m sticking to soft blues, romantic velvets and a base of neutrals. My personal home style is modern with a soft touch of New England coastline inspiration.

Here are a few of my favorite pieces:

+WALLPAPER: Have you ever had this vision in your head for a product that you really wanted, but had to find that it even existed? Orrr maybe it’s just me? Ever since moving into our first home, I knew I’d want to wallpaper either our dormer or a specific wall in our bedroom.

I dreamt up a romantic, floral wallpaper and after four+ hours of searching, I found one I love.

+BED: Another area that took a serious chunk of time was finding the right bed for us. We are upgrading to a king and I wanted to find an actual bed, not just a headboard. For a few reasons, I didn’t want anything upholstered and finally found a piece that mixed both S and I’s wants. This one! The light wood and contemporary design matches my wants and the wood material and dimensions fit S wants. Win, win! If you like this bed, I’d suggest waiting to buy until it is 30% off again around the Holidays.

+DRAPES: Curtains re my least favorite things to shop for. Why? Because finding the right drapes in your color, design, texture, length, width and opaqueness level is tough. By really taking my time with each room in our home and vetting through product specifications, I haven’t had any product returns.. other than curtains.

That said, I’m SO EXCITED to try this really cool company called Loom Decor that makes custom drapes or curtains and they don’t break the bank. I am thinking of a dusty blue for the Master.

+GOLD MIRROR: I really think I got my love of home decor and interiors from my Nana. Not only that, but my style too! A lot of the pieces I have in my home remind me of pieces she had in hers, especially the gold ones. When I saw this stunning mirror, it made me think of my Nana, her home and how she’d dust every table and decor pieces every single day! I at first thought it’d be in my office, but it looked beautiful in our Master bedroom above our bureau so that’s where it’ll live!

+BEADED CHAIR: Uh, couldn’t love this detail more. I’m thinking of having a sitting area either at the foot of the bed or in our large dormer. I love the mix of textures between the linen and wood. This is definitely a piece I’d rather “save” than splurge on so I’ve been keeping my eyes open at HomeGoods and other retailers like Wayfair.

+MATTRESS: S parents bought us our current mattress while we were in college so it’s time for a new one [we interned the last two summers of school and lived together an hour away from home]. I’m parntering with Allswell and cannot wait to test out their new mattress – The Supreme. Our friend’s have raved about the quality of this brand so I can’t wait to report back on our thoughts. Also, Allswell has a 10 year warrantee and a 100-Night risk free trial which shows they really stand by their products.

I cannot wait to see this space come together!
