During the recent Sephora sale, I grabbed a bunch of clean beauty goodies in an effort to continue transitioning over my skin care and beauty routine to be free of toxic ingredients! One product I grabbed was KOSAS tinted face oil and oh boy, I really like it!
Honestly, I usually don’t have a “middle ground” when it comes to make up application. I’m either all in or all out.. meaning I have my full face of make up on from mascara to blush – the whole nine yards. Or I wear nothing but my skin care routine.
That said, I want to find that “middle ground” routine. Whether I’m working from home or just running quick errands, I’m searching for a low maintenance, quick routine for those days. For a foundation or CC cream, I wanted to find a product that would make me feel a bit put together, but still nourish my skin and not clog my pores.

MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS
When I received my Sephora order, I did an unboxing on IG stories. If you watched, you may remember that I was skeptical of this face oil at first. The bottle was SUPER small and only 1 ounce, but has a $42 price tag. I knew that I had to really like this product to keep it. I was also apprehensive that I’d look greasy because this is an oil after all! Over a month later, I can tell you a little goes a really long way so I’m not concerned about the price per wear and it’s not greasy at all. More details on the texture further in the post..
I ordered shade 04 and after my first application, totally agree that it’s the right color for me. I just used the color shade finder on Sephora!
I found the consistency to be the same as any liquid face foundation. I first applied to half my face to see if there truly was any results compared to bare skin.
I used about three to four drops to cover my whole face and neckline. This is also buildable for more color and coverage, but for every day use I was happy with one layer!
At first glance, I was very impressed with the redness coverage. I had a blemish area and redness around my nose.. both were gone!
I also noticed a velvety finish I’ve never experience before when it comes to a face product. I kept wanting to touch my skin because it was so soft!
Overall, my first impression was I’d certainly be keeping this product. I enjoyed the wear throughout the day and didn’t feel like I had any face make up on, but enjoyed not looking like a zombie when the UPS man came to the door 😉
While that was just my first impression, here is more insights into my review after much more wear..

WHAT I LIKE MOST
Redness Coverage: I did not have any expectations here because most “light coverage” face product suck at erasing redness, but this product blew me away in this area. A blemish I had along with the daily redness I have around my nose were both covered quickly and easily. For a “light” coverage product, it hid any redness very well with just one layer.
Velvet Finish: Ohh one of my favorite parts! I love the velvet finish. Not in the way that it looks like velvet, lol, but it feels like it! Skin is so velvety soft. I’m not one to touch my face, but I keep wanting to!
Color: Another thing that similar products lack is any color pay off. I’m here to report that the KOSAS Tinted Face Oil has a wonderful color payoff. The only way I can describe their coloring is that it brings life back to your skin. While I don’t look like I’m wearing foundation, I certainly look much better than my bare skin! Even when I apply to just one side of my face, it’s not a drastic color change per se, but it’s just the right amount to make a $42 of tinted face oil worth it.
Consistency: While this product is made up of six different oils, it surely is not oily. It’s the same consistency as any other liquid foundation I have.
Application: To apply, I shake the bottle very thoroughly, put about three to four drops of the product onto my fingers, rubbed them together to warm it up and apply in circular motions. I just apply one layer all over, but will at times put a dab more on my red areas.
I really wanted to find a product I could apply with my fingers and be done. If I’m not wearing my full make up, I just want a quick face product to put on without a beauty blender or foundation brush. something that takes just my hands and three seconds! The KOSAS Face Oil applied beautifully and easily with fingers and I agree with the brand that it’s as easy as applying a face cream.. no blending needed.
Overall recommendation –
The KOSAS Tinted Face Oil is a daily light, “no make up look” face oil that gives you some redness reduction, a touch of color and the added benefits of hydrating superfoods. It’s a make up/skin care hybrid, honestly!
What I wouldn’t expect from this product is heavy coverage for dark spots or any full coverage. This isn’t a traditional foundation. I have lots of freckles which show through, as I’d expect.
