HOW TO TREAT A BLEMISH TO GO AWAY FAST

Blemishes. Whether driven by stress, a beauty product gone wrong or hormones, from time to time we all have them! I for one cannot just leave them alone. I don’t pick (scars!), but I absolutely treat them as soon as I see the first sign. I need to know that something is on it working away to heal it ASAP.

Ever since removing my hormonal IUD, I’ve been working to balance my hormones. Six months later, I’ve NEVER felt better and can’t wait to see even more progress six months from now.

Whether you’ve been on hormonal birth control pills for 10 years or had an IUD for a only couple years, once you go natural, your body needs to relearn how to stand on it’s on two feet again when it comes to hormone creation. When on hormonal birth control, the IUD or pill will suppress the creation of natural hormones in your body and release synthetic (progestin.. Big Pharma made) hormones. When you remove your IUD or stop taking the pill (with your doctor involved always), your body needs to relearn how to create hormones naturally, on it’s own again.

Hormones are a vital aspect of men and women’s health and effect much more than just fertility. So whether you want children in two months, four years or never, getting an understanding on your hormones is just as important. Hormones help regulate your heart rate, metabolism, sleep cycles and also greatly affect brain function and general growth and development… and much more!

One side effect of fluctuating hormones can be acne. I was mentally prepared for having break outs because as my body was detoxing off the synthetic hormone, progestin, and was trying to learn how to create it’s own natural progesterone again which can cause break outs.

I actually haven’t had major break outs, but I’ve certainly had a few blemishes pop up each month that are deep and simply stubborn. Due to this, I’ve found a great three step system to heal a blemish FAST.

TULA ACNE SPOT TREATMENT 1. Use a Gentle Cleanser
So first up, rethink the cleanser you’re using. Struggling with acne can be a clue that your skin’s pH is off. I prefer this one or this one. Neither leave your skin tight or irritate my sensitive skin. They both leave skin feeling refreshed, clean and soothed.

You can get 20% off with code MINDY (soon to change to 15% though, so stock up now).

2. Use this Spot Treatment in the Morning

Game changer! I have been testing this acne spot treatment for four months now and, while I don’t break out often, it’s a life saver when I do have a blemish pop up! It’s the perfect consistency to leverage under your make up and treat your blemish while at work or going about your day.

To apply, just do your normal morning cleanser and toner routine. Then, dab this spot treatment onto the skin. I let it set for 15 minutes while I brush my teeth and do my hair. At that point, I’ll apply my moisturizer while avoiding ghat blemish spot a bit and then go on with my make up.

You can always use this acne spot treatment at night too or on a bare face, but that’s pretty obvious so I wanted to call out how I treat during the day because we all have things to do and places to be, girlfriend!

And it’s only $16 with code “MINDY” at checkout!

TULA ACNE SPOT TREATMENT 3. Use this Acne Patch at Night
Now for those really deep or just plain annoying blemishes that are stubborn and won’t go away.. these acne patches are AMAZING. They will ZAP that thing away.

While you can totally just use this spot treatment at night, I prefer these acne patches while sleeping because the treatment stays put. It’s basically a little sticker with the treatment inside and after six hours, it sucks out all the ick from your pore. Rather than a cream spot treatment that will just end up on your pillow case!

4.Moisturize with a Gentle Cream
Just like a gentle, yet efficient cleanser is vital for a healthy skincare routine, so is a moisturizer! I have a couple favorites that are very gentle and effective in case you’r on the hunt for a new one. Here they are with a rating – Tula Hydrating Day & Night Cream
On a scale of hydration, I’d say it’s a 4 our of 5. Not as thick and creamy as this overnight cream that I pull out for really dry days, but absolutely perfect for every day. While Tula has a separate sensitive skin line, this moisturizer is absolutely gentle and would be my #1 suggestion.

Tula Sensitive Skin Calming Lotion: This is a very gentle formula specifically created for ladies (or guys) with sensitive skin or wanting to focus on clean beauty. That said, I only use it at night because it makes my foundation pill off my face (no matter WHAT I use – cc cream or foundation, oil or water based, etc.).

On a scale of 1-5 on hydration, I’d say it’s a 3 so it’s a great option for summer option.

You can use always use code ‘MINDY’ for 20% off Tula’s entire site. This percentage off will be reduced to 15% come February. Here are some skincare posts you may also enjoy
