Hi friends! So sorry for being a bit absent. I was traveling last week in Dallas and once I got back, I had a sick fiance to care for. S has some sort of nasty flu, so I made sure he was my #1 priority the last few days. For months, we had a long weekend planned that I dubbed wedding weekend planning palooza. S was a champ not only powering through all our vendor appointments while being sick, but being so involved and attentive to each aspect. We visited our ceremony location for the first time and my breath was seriously taken away. The white marble cathedral is absolutely stunning. We also nailed down the day-of operations, had our second marriage prep class [we’ve LOVED this], created and ordered the invite suites, met with our amazing florist and purchased both of our wedding bands!!!! Woo!

Anywho, I’m happy to be back today with a super casual look that’s easy to recreate either with the exact items or from pieces you may already have hanging in your closet. This is what I call my easy, breezy weekend ensemble:

Black Knit Dress: link
I’m not a body con girl at all. I don’t find them appropriate for many occasions, but finding the right one and layering it, quickly turns the dress an easy essential! Having a black knit dress on hand makes layering on a dusting cardi, denim coat or suede jacket easy to create vastly different styles, with the base remaining constant. More use out of an item = more bang for your buck. When it comes to body con knits, this brand does it right. The reason being is that the material is thick, resulting in a form flattering fit. Thin fabric or spandexy material brings body cons in a no-go area in my personal opinion, but this dress is made of the right stuff with just enough stretch and the right thickeness. Plus you can grab it in six different colors and it’s under $60!

Denim Jacket: link
I’m always styling this denim coat on the blog because it’s just that useful. You can find looks here and here with it styled too. This simple layer takes this dress from a typical LBD, to day time wear. I just grabbed this jacket so I can have so different options on here other than just denim!

Neutral Crossbody: link
For weekends, being hands free is a must. I’m always reaching for crossbodys over clutches and traditional sized handbags because they work from AM to PM. Grab one in a neutral color and you’re good as gold to mix and match it with all sorta of different color palettes and outfits. While this exact one is sadly sold out, I still style it here on the blog for inspiration and offer up similar versions. I recently purchased this one which you may have seen on Instagram. The color is such a perfect light nude for spring and the perforated logo is just too cute to pass on! This one and this one are both cute and under $55!

Simple Flops: link
A few weekends ago we had 70 degree weather which is unheard of here in February. I immediately ran to the mall to stock up on some warm weather outfits to shoot because I knew the sunshine wouldn’t last. And guess what? I realized I needed to restock on some new sandals ASAP! I had my old reliable Millers, which I highly recommend, but I soon placed and order for these and these for when that sunny weather comes back to us. I do feel that these simple Miller sandals work perfectly for this outfit, since they truly are what I’d throw on to run errands. While the price may be steep for a sandal [my dad nearly fell over when S blabbed the price tag], but they last you year over year and not only go with everything, but are also slightly cushioned.

Turquoise Choker: link
Turquoise always feels like the color of spring to me. It fades seamlessly through summer and fall, but something about bringing out this pop of color in March each year makes em think SPRING. Anyone else?! Chokers are of course, quintessentially on-trend and this retailer is my favorite place to stock up since they are budget-friendly. This one adds the perfect pop of color for the weekend with a pretty layered detail.

I hope this inspires you to pull out those old pieces in your closet or grab a few new ones to freshen up your spring wardrobe! Xo Mindy
