I can’t contain my excitement since the coveted J.Crew Chateau Parka is on sale today! I’m so excited for you to try out my all time favorite parka that I rave about every winter, for yourself. It’s an investment piece, but a practical one that you’ll wear for years and years.

With living in New England, I wear mine basically everyday from November through April. I’ve gotten my money’s worth for sure!

REVIEW: J.CREW CHATEAU PARKA IN ITALIAN STADIUM-CLOTH WOOL

I remember saving and waiting for a sale to invest in my first J.Crew Chateau Parka. I grabbed it in the ‘Bright Magenta’ hue. I wore it all winter long so much so that I took advantage fo this exact sale last year and also invested in the versatile ‘Heather Dusk’ hue. If you live in a cold climate, you will not regret this purchase whatsoever because you will live in it all winter while being super warm and chic.

It’s been J.Crew’s most popular coat since 2006 for a reason!

DETAILS: The faux fur hood is detachable with buttons which is ideal for dry cleaning. I love the fur, but if you don’t you can just take it off from the get-go.

For hardware, my red version has gold hardware and my grey coat has silver so take a peek at this since it varies per parka coat color.

SIZING: Go down one size because it runs large. I’m usually a 6 in jeans, so I grabbed a size ‘4 regular’ and it fits great. I can still fit a sweater underneath too.

J.Crew offers ‘petite’, ‘regular’ and ‘tall’ sizes. I’m 5’7″ and  the ‘regular’ is the ideal length on me as you can see above, it hits me at the upper thigh so those details should help you decide. Note:

Sometimes the J.Crew site defaults to ‘petite’, so double check which you have selected before checking out.

QUALITY: Outstanding, especially compared to the outlet version. The  outlet version is still a wonderful coat just not nearly as warm, is a tad tighter on the shoulders and doesn’t look as cute. I own the outlet version and two J.Crew versions. Both are great coats, just know that you’re getting what you pay for in regards to quality, warmth and looks.

FIT: I love the fit of this jacket because it’s an A-line, meaning it flares out more towards your hips. This is so comfy, especially if you’re layering sweaters underneath. You’re not crammed like  the Michelin Man.

The shoulders on the outlet version are very tight, but on the Chateau Parka, they are comfortable and not snug at all.

Like I mentioned, I own it in light grey and red. I’m dying over the emerald and lilac though.

I’d suggest starting with a neutral like a black or grey. I personally didn’t follow my own rule on this because all the neutrals sold out when I purchased my first one, but I don’t regret it because I love wearing red. It’s “my color”!

I know we are all waiting until Cyber Week to purchase things for ourselves and others, but I’m not exaggerating when I say this coat is sold out in popular sizes and neutral colors come end of November.

I also don’t see it being priced that much lower so if you absolutely love it, I really suggest grabbing it now or you may be waiting until this time next year! [which happened to me!]

CARE: Neither of the colors I have get dirty, even the light grey AKA ‘Heather Dusk’ color. I’ve worn it through the streets and subways of Boston and New York city in a blizzards.

I do dry clean them once a year!
