Ever since overhauling and organizing my cloffice, I have felt so inspired to ‘shop my closet’. As a blogger, part of your job is purchasing new products and clothing to style and share with your readers. You of course make an ROI on each item you share, but the consumerism can get sickening!
Lately before blog shoots, I’ve been training myself to grab pieces from my closet that are still in stock for you and style them a different way.
You may also have some similar clothes in your closet to recreate the look without spending any money too!
That to say, today I am restyling a peplum tee I LOVE, the same denim jeans I shared last week, a bag I’ve owned for two years, slides I grabbed a few months ago and a scarf that was a birthday present.
The base of this outfit is classic and neutral so to give it some personality, I added in three Spring accessories!
WHITE PEPLUM KNIT: You probably already have white tees in your closet, but I wanted to call this one out since I get so much wear out of it year round and it’s 40% off! I first bought it in the stripe print and was living in it, so I grabbed the white version when it went on sale last year. You’ll also find it in other neutrals grey and black!
I love how the peplum detail adds a feminine touch and that it’s not see through! Some white tees are annoying due to being super sheer and needing a cami. I don’t find a need for one with this.
In addition today’s look, I’ve worn this tee under blazers for work, with colorful chino shorts and with white skinnies for a fresh summer look.
For $24, I may grab the black! I’m not one to grab tops I love in 15 colors, but honestly this basic is so good it’s worth having in multiples 😉 It runs large, so go down one size.
MOM JEANS: Guysssss.. this is definitely my favorite purchase of the year. I shared them here last week.
Oftentimes with high rise jeans, they can look bulky at the waist making them only really capable of being worn with your top tucked in. For some reason with these, they aren’t bulky! Between that versatility and the light denim wash, I’ve been reaching for them all the time. They are a true denim [meaning it’s not like a spandex suer stretch jean, which I really enjoy because after a couple wears you break them in and they are soo comfy.
I found them to run true to size. I linked them here at ShopBop because they have free shipping and returns, if you mail it back within 10 days.
Okay so that’s the neutral base of the outfit that you probably have sitting in your closet right now!
To add in texture and personaity, I suggest layering on three Spring accessories:
I’m not sure about where you live, but New England temperatures can dip unexpectedly so I like to layer on scarves through the Spring transitional season. Plus, they make for a cute addition.
I love grabbing scarves from Loft and right now they are all 50% off. This one will give you the same look as me, but for only $15!
While I typically reach for neutral bags to get the most use out of them, having a go-to bag in a pop of color is so fun!
While my faux rattlesnake textured Flemming is a couple years old, the classic leather blush version is so gorg. The brand did release an almost identical version of mine this year.. it’s the same hot pink color, just a ‘matte’ rather than ‘rattlesnake’ material and it’s also in ‘small’ while I have the ‘large’ size.
To get the look more affordably, here and here are two cute options!
3.ON TREND SLIDES
It’s not surprise here! Slides are one ‘trend’ that I don’t want to see go. I don’t think they will ever truly be “out of style” per se, but they are super hot this year, just as they were in 2018.
I have raved about these blush slides because they look like Gucci, but are 1/6 of the price tag. I wasn’t sure how often I’d wear a slide loafer since the ‘loafer’ style is a bit more masculine than I typically reach for, so I didn’t want to invest in a designer pair just yet.
I’m here to report these are my most worn shoe of the season! Anything from jeans, to work or leggings – I throw these on.
I think the rounded from and the blush color make these much more feminine. I love this pointed toe option too!
Which of these Spring accessories are you wearing lately?! Xo Mindy
