With being only four months away from our wedding day, I have so many #WeddingWednesday posts geared up for you guys that I’m excited to share! Going through our engagement, marriage prep and now wedding planning with you all has been so fun. I’ve been able to connect with many of you bride-to-be’s via email and Instagram which has been so enjoyable. Anytime I receive a reader email, comment or tweet I get so excited so thank you :-*.

Lately I have receive a lot of questions on bridal shoes! When it comes to any shoes, I’m picky. I won’t spend a dime if they don’t feel like “me”, are versatile and C-OM-F-O-R-T-A-B-L-E. When it came to picking out my wedding shoes, I was very determined to check off all three of those boxes. Since there are so many bridal shoe options out there to meet any girls’ style preferences, finding a pair that I found was very much “me” was a simple task.

When it came to versatility, I personally wanted to find a shoe I could wear beyond just my wedding day since I knew from the get-go I was treating myself to a designer investment heel! So this meant I wasn’t going for any vibrant colors, typical embellishments or satin-y bridal materials. That’s just me though! I totally understand wanting a heel that is cut and clear a bridal wedding shoe that’s only worn on your big day.

Then when it comes to comfort, oh man what a challenge! In case you didn’t already catch on, I’m not much of a heel girl. 360 days of the year I’m thankful for the mile long legs that my Thompson genes blessed me with, but then on days I find a five inch pump that is gorgeous, I get envious of my petite ladies. For our wedding, I wanted to find a heel that was three inches or shorter because anything taller just makes me more clumsy than I alreayd am, haha.

You may have seen a commonality with the requirements above – they all were what makes me happy. Weddings are about more than just the couple, it’s about two families coming together and the friends standing by your side. Your bridal shoes? That’s all Y-O-U, girl! You’re the one standing in them for six hours [or like me eleven, more on that another day HA] and honestly one of the only people that will even see them. It’s one part of the wedding that you can swipe your debit card for without anyone else’s opinions.

Now before making that card swipe, consider these three things:

DO THEY MAKE YOU FEEL GLAMOROUS?
No other explanation needed. Whatever makes you feel glam, crystal embellishments, rockstud straps or lace details – you do you, girl!
ARE THEY VERSATILE?
This may be the checklist item that really helps you narrow down to the pair. When deciding between a few different options, why not go for the one you can wear for date night or your honeymoon!?
ARE THEY COMFORTABLE?
Dealing with arch pain can be tolerable for a girls night out, but not on your wedding day! If you tend to avoid heels, why not opt for a wedge or chic pair of flats? I told my photographer that I have worn my wedding heels a couple times to break them in and got worried about the bottoms being dirty and ruffed up. He had told me that having a clean heel sole is less important than feeling comfortable on our wedding day because feeling uncomfortable will sho through into all your pictures which is so true!

I hope this post helps you when deciding on your bridal shoes! PS – the pair above was gifted to me from Badgley Mischka and adore them, but aren’t a sneak peek at my actual wedding day shoes, hehe! They have a three inch heel and are covered with jewels. So pretty! Xo Mindy

We got married 6 years ago and I opted for a fun pop of color for my shoes. Looking back, I wish I would have done what you are doing now. My shoes have never been worn since.
